Thanks for the piece on setting. I've been thinking about that a lot lately. We use to just sit in my grandparents backyard on summer evenings with the baseball game on the radio. The sound of a game on the (satellite) radio always brings me back to that and if I hear an old clip of Dave Niehaus saying "My oh my!" I tear up a little. So I've been trying to disconnect from the phone and enjoy what's around me in real life.
My grandpa and I would sit on his front porch with the Cincinnati Reds on the radio in the background, and he would tell me all sorts of stories about how he saw the biggest goddamn mosquitos in Texas when he was in the army. I loved every second of it.
I absolutely loved that. Enjoy your setting time. I forgot who sings that Pina Colda song too. I could google it but that would be pointless and kind of productive. Maybe, if I just sit for awhile then I'll remember or not. Enjoy your day Mr. Hill.
Hi Joe, The trailer looks great for Black Phone 2! Can’t wait to watch this since I’m a huge fan and avid reader of yours. I originally planned to order a signed copy of King Sorrow for my birthday coming up in July and I’ll be sure to order a signed copy of 20th Century Ghosts too. 🫶🏽
I adored the first Black Phone movie and have rewatched it several times. I’m thrilled the original actors are coming back. I thought they were so good!
I’m reading King Sorrow right now. (I got slightly delayed because your dad put out a new one too.) I’m loving it. The King has just made his first appearance. Can’t wait to finish this one—you are a very fine writer, sir. Thanks for the years of entertainment!
No offense, but I'm gonna (try and) ignore that trailer. I am already sold on the flick and would to go in, knowing nothing (about the movie...I'm already pretty clueless on life).
LOVE the idea for set...gonna try and start making that a weekly thing around here (wish me luck on the kiddo joining me in it!).
Your post is a setup to just set. Doing nothing is hard to accept when you are anxiety driven, but it's too hot (already?), I'm retired, and I agree with everything you've said. I think I'll just set and ponder your words.
Totally agree on digital not being permanent. If I want to research comic book history before 2000, there are fanzines/magazines. Post-2000, it's all Newsarama and Comic Book Resources, and their archives are nonexistent. (Archive.org is spotty, at best.) All those interviews, gone.
Thanks for reminding us of how life used to be and can be again if we take the time to make it so.
It was a nice time, wasn't it? Hope you are well and I've misses you. Text ya in the morning😊
Black Phone 2 looks scarier than the first!

So true and thanks for sharing

You go on and sit with your bad self, Samantha! ☺️

So much great stuff in this entry, thank you Joe, I honestly needed to see this advice today.

Congrats on the Black Phone 2, I know that must feel good.
From a 35 dollar short to two movies!
Thank you - totally agree. I’ve been spending more time in my rocking chair looking out at the trees and rain and just thinking. It’s been wonderful.

So much to look forward to.
I love that book. Will you be selling signed copies? Thank you so much for the great stories. You are the best!
